For more than 20 years, The Beach has provided instructors to teach on Catalina, giving students the experience of hands-on research, presenting their findings to friends and family at a symposium, and writing academic papers.

In response to the oil spill off Huntington Beach, 91ÖÆƬ³§'s Shark Lab and Whitcraft Wetlands Lab took part in field sampling along various Southern California shorelines to assess the damage to native marine life and sensitive ecological systems.
