Kyeongsuk (Sean) Lee
Dr. Kyeongsuk (Sean) Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Management at California State University, Long Beach. He joined 91制片厂 in Fall 2026 after serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Management at Western New England University. He previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Lawrence Technological University. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Construction Engineering and Management, from Purdue University and his M.S. in Building Science from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Lee鈥檚 research focuses on smart construction safety, human factors and artificial intelligence, and cyber-physical-human systems. His research integrates artificial intelligence, wearable sensing, multimodal physiological data, and immersive simulation to understand how construction workers perceive hazards, make safety-critical decisions, and adapt their behavior in dynamic construction environments. His work aims to develop human-centered technologies and intelligent decision-support systems for construction safety management.
Dr. Lee has participated in multidisciplinary research projects supported by the National Science Foundation, the Indiana Department of Transportation, and industry partners. His research experience includes AI-informed personalized safety training, construction worker behavior and risk perception, work-zone intrusion technologies, and human-centered built environments. His work has been published in leading journals, including the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, the ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering, and Expert Systems with Applications. His research has received an Editor鈥檚 Choice designation in the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering and a Best Paper Award at the CIB World Building Congress.
