Dr. Hailu Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering & Computer Science. He joined 91ÖÆƬ³§ in Fall 2020. Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Florida International University in 2020 and interned at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2019. His research interests include AI/ML systems, human–robot collaboration, distributed computing, federated learning, cloud and edge computing, and big data systems. His work has been published in high-quality journals and flagship conferences such as IEEE TPDS, Journal of Supercomputing, IEEE CCGrid, IEEE/ACM IPDPS, IEEE ICPADS, Neurocomputing, ACM Middleware, IEEE Cloud, etc. He received several research grants from NSF, AWS, Google, 91ÖÆƬ³§, and NSF XSEDE, etc. He received the Best Paper Award from Sensor S&P 2025 and the Best Student Paper Award from CLOUD 2019.
