Connie Yu

Connie Yu, SLPD, CCC-SLP, is a full-time lecturer and clinical faculty member in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at California State University, Long Beach. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Redlands and her doctorate from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah.
 
With over 18 years of clinical experience in public schools, skilled nursing facilities, and private practice, Connie brings a well-rounded, practical perspective to her teaching and supervision. She is particularly dedicated to supporting children on the autism spectrum, emphasizing collaboration with caregivers to promote meaningful, functional communication. As a bilingual Mandarin speaker, she specializes in caregiver coaching and providing linguistically and culturally responsive services.
 
Her doctoral research focused on a single-subject case study exploring the use of hand cues in combination with parent-implemented intervention strategies for children with moderate to severe motor speech disorders. 
 
Connie works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care model and is well-versed in the policies and procedures of regional centers, school districts, and healthcare systems, ensuring her services align with current standards and regulatory requirements.
