Esteban Zeferino Charco came to 91制片厂 and found more than a degree. The Political Science major, who concentrates in law, politics and policy, credits the university with shaping who he has become.

"This campus changed my life through every person I met, every class I took, and every program and organization I was a part of," Charco said.

His path to student government began with the Sacramento Semester Program, where he interned at the State Capitol with Assemblymember Solache. The experience, he said, showed him that he belonged in spaces where decisions were made. He returned to campus and ran for Associated Students Inc. Senator for the College of Liberal Arts, motivated by a desire to expand student access to campus resources.

He says his proudest accomplishment so far is being selected as the student representative on the new CLA Dean Search Committee, where he will bring student perspectives to one of the college's most significant leadership decisions.

Charco is also a Student Assistant with Project Rebound, 91制片厂's program supporting formerly incarcerated students. He credits the program with transforming his educational trajectory.

"Project Rebound is more than a program to me,鈥 Charco said. 鈥淚t is a family that encourages me when things get tough.鈥

After graduation, Charco plans to pursue law school in fall 2027, supported by the Legal Education Access Pipeline Pre-Law Fellowship. He hopes to build a career in criminal law.
