About
The Clorinda Donato Center for Global Romance Languages and Translation Studies was established in 2017 through a generous gift from Mr. Mario Giannini. The center supports research and instruction in translation studies and the Romance languages in their global and interconnected linguistic and cultural contexts. It houses the Minor in Translation Studies and the Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies and collaborates with the Department of Linguistics on the Linguistics BA, Option in Translation Studies. A new MA in Translation and Interpreting is currently moving through the approval process and is expected to launch in Fall 2027. With technology playing an increasingly central role in fields of translation, interpreting, and localization, the center will continue to integrate industry-standard tools and workflows throughout its curriculum. This approach ensures that students graduate with the practical expertise needed to succeed in a broad range of professional roles, from translator and interpreter to localization engineer, post-editor, and translation technology specialist.
