Music Credential Program

A music credential in California certifies an individual to teach music courses (e.g., general music, choral-vocal, instrumental, music technology) in UTK-12 public school settings. Subject matter, pedagogical, and educational competencies prepare you to teach any form of music at any grade level. Therefore, the credential requires you to demonstrate breadth and depth in the music content area.

Education coursework introduces pre-service teachers to theoretical applications that impact classroom instruction. Music credential students will apply and develop their subject-specific pedagogical approaches within the parameters of topics that include diversity and inclusivity, culturally responsive and sustaining practices, students with specialities, academic English literacy, and affirming learning environments.
