Candidates that have a full time teaching position may petition to use the position for student teaching as long as all the requirements listed below are met. To petition to use a paid position for student teaching you will need to submit the following items with the :

1. A Statement from you asking that you be allowed to use this paid position for student teaching. Be sure to include all the details of your position in the statement including the school and district, if applicable. Indicate what experience you have that has prepared you to take on a teaching position prior to finishing the program rather than going the traditional route and doing student teaching alongside a cooperating teacher.
2. Your 91ÖÆƬ³§ unofficial transcripts. You can download these from My91ÖÆƬ³§.
3. A letter from the principal or director at the school confirming that you have a full time position during the time of Student Teaching and support you in using the position for student teaching.
4. A letter from a teacher at the school that is willing to serve as your site support person/cooperating teacher. This teacher MUST have a clear credential or hold a Master Teacher level or higher Child Development Permit in the same area in which you are pursuing. Please view the Student Teacher Handbook, Section 5; Cooperating Teacher, tab titled Qualifications of Cooperating Teachers. The support person needs to agree to serve as your cooperating teacher and meet all of the Cooperating Teacher requirements, including agree to observe you periodically, complete your midterm and final student teacher feedback forms, and participate in triad meetings. Unfortunately, cooperating teachers supporting students in paid student teaching placements are not compensated.
5. Your school must be on the Approved Clinical Practice Affiliation Agreement list for Student Teaching.
